Biographical Note for Hampton Roads Community Foundation : The Hampton Roads Community Foundation began as The Norfolk Foundation in 1950. The organization's mission is "a thriving community with opportunity for all." Its mission is to "make life better in Hampton Roads through leadership, philanthropy, and civic engagement." The Hampton Roads Community Foundation formed in 2010 when The Norfolk Foundation and The Virginia Beach Foundation merged.
