Biographical Note for Black, Barron F. (1894-1974) : Barron F. Black was born on November 26, 1894. He was a well-known Norfolk lawyer and seven-time president of the Hampton Roads Maritime Association. Barron F. Black helped establish the Norfolk Historic Foundation, where he also served as chairman. His main goal was to improve the cultural life of Norfolk. Black's major accomplishments to the City of Norfolk were the establishment of the Kirn Public Library and the preservation and restoration of historic homes in the area. Barron F. Black died on March 1, 1974.
