Brief Description: Twenty-five love letters between Jesse V. Bassett and Elizabeth Daisy Cross. The letters begin in the early days of the couple's courtship in 1886; two letters were written after the couple married. Most of the love letters are from Jesse V. Bassett.

Biographical Note for Bassett, Jesse V. (1863-1938) : Jesse Virginius Bassett was born on March 14, 1863 in Virginia. Bassett married Elizabeth Daisy Cross on February 15, 1888 or 1889 in Norfolk, Virginia. During his career, Bassett was a salesman and bookkeeper. He died from tuberculosis on February 27, 1938 in Princesse Anne, Virginia and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
