Biographical Note for Benson, Francis : Francis Benson was born in June 1773 or 1778. He married Sophia Butt on October 24, 1799 in Portsmouth, Virginia. Together the couple had four children: William, John, Eliza, and Virginia. He was a captain of the Portsmouth Rifle Company after 1801. Benson died in Norfolk, Virginia in 1828.
