Biographical Note for Cosmopolitan Club of Norfolk (1924-) : The Cosmopolitan Club of Norfolk was chartered on February 27, 1924. It is a service organization dedicated to charitable efforts, especially diabetes research. In 1985 the Cosmopolitan Club of Norfolk played a vital role in raising the necessary funds for the Strelitz Diabetes Center at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Since 1928, the Cosmopolitan Club of Norfolk has been awarding the First Citizen Award to Norfolk individuals for their services to the community.
