Biographical Note for Walden, Eleanor (1909-1998) : Eleanor Sloan Eichhorn Walden was born on July 26, 1909 in Lonaconing, Maryland. She married Murray H. Walden on April 21, 1935. In 1940, Walden organized a choir for Norfolk Naval Base Chapel and served as choir director for 28 years. She taught music for various schools in Norfolk, including Granby High School. Her major accomplishments included accompanying her choral groups, The Nonuettes and the Virginia Belles, on overseas tours in 1965 and 1967. Walden died on January 24, 1998 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
