Biographical Note for Steed, Robert Edey (1856-1930) : Robert Edey Steed was born on July 13, 1856 in King William County, Virginia. He married Ellen Ida Johnson on July 3, 1883 in Lanesville, Virginia. Steed began working for the city of Norfolk, Virginia in 1891 and served as city clerk from 1906 until he took a leave of absence for health reasons on December 1, 1929. He died on May 28, 1930 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
