Brief Description: One 1926-1946 scrapbook primarily containing newspaper clippings from 1929-1930 from the Norfolk-Ledger Dispatch, Virginian-Pilot, and The Portsmouth Star relating to local politics and government in Norfolk, Virginia. Common topics include the city budget, spending, taxes, voting and elections for City Council, actions taken by City Manager Truxton, and the re-election of Mayor S. Heath Tyler. Other common topics include the building of a school in Larchmont, street paving, water improvements, construction of bridges and an airport, the fate of Negro Beach, the bankruptcy of Guaranty Title & Trust, the oyster packing industry, and the publication of Wertenbaker's book Norfolk: Historic Southern Port. A handful of articles from the early 1940s relate to former Commonwealth's attorney John M. Arnold.
