Biographical Note for J. E. Etheridge Lumber Company, Inc. (1904-1944) : J. E. Etheridge Lumber Company, Inc. was formed following the death of Mr. J. E. Etheridge in 1904. Principal stockholders included his widow, Frances "Fanny" Santos Etheridge and brother-in-law, Walter Todd Santos. On April 26, 1944 at a stockholders' meeting, the decision was made to liquidate the business due to feeble health of the President and General Manager, as well as significant losses due to government restrictions and inability to obtain raw materials.
