Brief Description: Circa 1900s-1930s photographs and a scrapbook featuring the Virginian Railway, primarily in West Virginia. The photographs depict trains, railroad tracks, bridges, tunnels, and housing construction. There are also photographs depicting railroad construction workers as well as family photographs. The collection also includes postcards, correspondence, and clippings of A. M. Traugott, along with a 1947 annual report, 1933 magazine feature, and 1938 organizational chart of the Virginian Railway Company.

Biographical Note for Traugott, A. M. (1882-1954) : Albert Maser Traugott was born on July 31, 1882 in Rochester, New York. He began his career in railway service in 1898, joining the Deepwater Railway Company, precursor to the Virginian Railway, in 1903. Traugott worked his way up to Chief Engineer for the Virginian Railway in 1927 and served in that capacity until 1947. He married Myrtle Perkins on November 6, 1920 in Mercer County, West Virginia. Traugott lived in Norfolk, Virginia for approximately 35 years until his death on January 1, 1954. He was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
