Brief Description: Personal and family papers and photographs of Lucile Perryman Bybee Portlock of Norfolk, Virginia. The collection includes correspondence to Portlock, photograph albums of her eldest child Lucile "Billie," and genealogy of the Bybee family conducted both personally and professionally by Edgar T. Brown from the mid-1970s to late-1980s. There is also a family Bible that belonged to her parents, Harry Rainey Bybee and Lucile DuVall Perryman, a photo album created by Portlock's mother during her time at Georgetown College, and miscellaneous publications relating to her father's chiropractic business in Norfolk. The family photographs primarily encompass the Bybee and Portlock families.

Biographical Note for Portlock, Lucile (1917-2009) : Lucile Perryman Bybee Portlock was born on May 1, 1917 in Norfolk, Virginia. She graduated from the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary in 1939. She married William Seth Portlock, Jr. on April 5, 1941 in Norfolk, Virginia. Portlock was Librarian at Granby High School from 1939-1941, Assistant Librarian at Norview Jr. High School from 1956-1957 and Assistant Librarian at Norview Senior High School from 1958-1966. She then served as Librarian of the Sargeant Memorial Room from 1966 until her retirement in 1985. Portlock died on October 9, 2009 in Richmond, Virginia.
