Indenture document and receipt concerning Francis Benson and his debt of $700 to Bernard Magnien.
Biographical Note
Francis Benson was born in June 1773 or 1778. He married Sophia Butt on October 24, 1799 in Portsmouth, Virginia. Together the couple had four children: William, John, Eliza, and Virginia. He was a captain of the Portsmouth Rifle Company after 1801. Benson died in Norfolk, Virginia in 1828.
