Memoir recounting Russell Dawson's boyhood memories of the Civil War, particularly the capture of Norfolk, Virginia by the Union in May 1862.

Biographical Note

Russell Soule Dawson was born in Norfolk, Virginia on October 29, 1852. He married Emma Hahn Dodson. Dawson retired as a cotton broker. He died on February 24, 1932 in Virginia Beach, Virginia and was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
