Philadelphia Rapid Transit ephemera, including brochures and photographs, collected by Henry F. Pohe in 1926 from the first trip on a passenger airplane.
Biographical Note
Henry F. Pohe was born on July 21, 1902 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a hatmaker who briefly lived in Norfolk, Virginia in the mid- to late-1920s as manager of the company Rumenap & Pohe. Pohe was the first person to purchase a ticket on the daily plane passenger service Philadelphia Rapid Transit in 1926. He married Virginia C. Pohe in the 1930s. Pohe died on March 8, 1987 in Baltimore, Maryland.
