Biographical Note

John Samuel Alfriend was a Norfolk, Virginia native, born on July 6, 1897. Alfriend was a prominent businessman and active in the Norfolk community. He married Harriet "Hattie" Sanderlin. Alfriend died on July 8, 1974 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia. The Alfriend and Vickery families are direct descendants of Pocahontas and John Rolfe.
