Five page autobiography of William Henry Sargeant from Norfolk, Virginia, detailing places he lived, education, marriage, and children.

Biographical Note

William Henry Sargeant was born near Morristown, New Jersey in November 1842. He taught for three years before becoming a librarian for the Mercantile Library Association of Baltimore. Sargeant married Elizabeth Frances Williams in 1873. He moved to Norfolk, Virginia in 1876. Sargeant was elected Librarian for Norfolk Public Library in 1895 and held that position until his death on March 23, 1917. He was buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
