Scope and Contents of the Materials
Daily correspondence to the Norfolk Station, Division of Telegrams and Reports for the Benefit of Commerce, Office of the Chief Signal Officer of the Army, for the years 1871 and 1877. Includes official letters, memoranda, and telegrams from the Division and Office; official correspondence from other Army departments and the United States Navy; and correspondence between the Station and local civilian entities. Most of the materials deal with daily administrative directives, expenditures, and personnel actions.
