Scope and Contents of the Materials

One 1918-1923 scrapbook created by Annie Lee Wade in Norfolk, Virginia. Items pasted onto scrapbook pages include photographs, correspondence, cards, clippings, and other ephemeral materials. Several pages feature items relating to Annie Lee Wade and her lover, Lloyd Barnard.

Biographical Note

Annie Lee Wade Barnard Midgett was born on August 23, 1902 in Bath, South Carolina. She married Lloyd Barnard on May 16, 1924 in Norfolk, Virginia. Midgett had one son: Lloyd Barnard, Jr. in 1926. She married Willie Etheridge Midgett on March 11, 1961 in Norfolk, Virginia. Midgett retired from E. Bradford Tazewell architectural firm. She died on September 23, 1985 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Portsmouth, Virginia.
