Scope and Contents of the Materials

One 1940-1941 scrapbook containing photographs, postcards, greeting cards, invitations, programs, a map, and other memorabilia belonging to Helen Louise Borrowdale Smith of Norfolk, Virginia. The scrapbook includes materials relating to Smith's travels in Charleston, West Virginia and Huntington, West Virginia, along with her honeymoon travels to Boston, Massachusetts and New York.

Biographical Note

Helen Louise Borrowdale Smith was born on October 9, 1910 in the Berkley section of Norfolk, Virginia. She graduated from Maury High School in 1928. Smith married Robert Bateman Boyce on April 15, 1933 in Norfolk, Virginia. She married Wayne Eugene Smith on September 20, 1941 in Williamsburg, Virginia. Smith died on March 20, 2003 in Virginia Beach, Virginia and was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
