Scope and Contents of the Materials

One circa 1960s-1970s scrapbook of poems, correspondence, greeting cards, and newspaper clippings relating to Edna Reed Hainsworth of Norfolk, Virginia. Letters and greeting cards were addressed from Edna Reed Hainsworth and sent to Mary Hall Whitehurst, who presumably compiled the scrapbook.

Biographical Note

Mary Emily Hall Whitehurst was born on August 21, 1908 in Rich Square, North Carolina. She married William Calvin Whitehurst on November 13, 1926 in Pasquotank, North Carolina. Whitehurst retired from sales at Naivete Shop. She was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church in Norfolk, Virginia. Whitehurst died on January 10, 2000 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
