Scope and Contents of the Materials

One January 6-16, 1951 scrapbook featuring pages relating to a Holland-America Line cruise of the SS Nieuw Amsterdam to South America by the 21st Street Business Men's Cruise, Inc. The trip was advertised as the first South American cruise originating in and returning to Norfolk, Virginia. The scrapbook primarily includes booklets featuring guests' names and brochures advertising goods or services in port. Places visited included Curacao; La Guaira, Venezuela; and Kingston, Jamaica. Some materials in the last folder relate to a Caribbean cruise of the SS Nieuw Amsterdam in March 1970.
