Scope and Contents of the Materials

Circa 1950s poems and one letter written by Mary Sinton Leitch. Several poems are dated after 1952 and place the poet at "Wycherley" on the Lynnhaven, Bayside, Virginia.

Biographical Note

Mary Sinton Lewis Leitch was born on September 7, 1876 in New York, New York. She married John David Leitch on October 17, 1907 and lived much of her life in the Witchduck area of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Leitch was a poet and founding member of the Poetry Society of Virginia. She died on August 20, 1954 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Old Dominion Church Cemetery in Princess Anne County, Virginia.
