Scope and Contents of the Materials
One circa 1850-1871 Bible of the Drury H. Holland family of Suffolk, Virginia. The Bible was printed by the American Bible Society in 1850. Also one circa 1900-2001 Bible of the James H. Holland family of Norfolk, Virginia. The Bible was printed by John E. Potter and Company around 1883.
Biographical Note
The Holland family of the now extinct Suffolk and Nansemond counties trace their lineage back to Lancashire, England in the 10th century. Members of the Holland family came to Virginia in the early 17th century and lived in Jamestown before eventually settling in Suffolk and Nansemond counties.
