Scope and Contents of the Materials
Eight photographs of Mrs. Froehlich's 1st or 2nd grade classes at Norfolk Public Schools in Norfolk, Virginia. The first four photographs were taken circa 1955-1970 and include students sitting at their desks with Mrs. Froehlich sitting in the back. The remaining four photographs are Mrs. Froehlich's students at Coleman Place Elementary School for the years 1974-1975, 1975-1976, 1976-1977, and 1977-1978.
Biographical Note
Lois Shickel Froehlich was born on April 7, 1918 in Roanoke, Virginia. She graduated from Bridgewater College in 1941 and taught eighth grade at Radford High School in Radford, Virginia. She married Eugene E. Froehlich on November 3, 1944 in Roanoke, Virginia. Froehlich was a schoolteacher at Norfolk Public Schools in Norfolk, Virginia. She taught at Lakewood, Roberts Park, and Coleman Place elementary schools. Froehlich was a member of David Adams Memorial Chapel. She died on March 11, 1993 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Rosewood Memorial Park in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
