Scope and Contents of the Materials
Monthly newsletters from 1936-1962 of Elks Gavel, published by Norfolk Lodge No. 38 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Norfolk, Virginia. The collection also includes 1950-1952 correspondence to Sgt. William T. Prince at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri concerning club membership and a minstrel show, and a 1974-1975 membership card belonging to James E. Prince of Norfolk, Virginia.
Biographical Note
The Norfolk Lodge, No. 38 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Norfolk, Virginia formed in 1886. The organization met at 112 College Place.
