Historical Note: Baron Jean de Lustrac was born in Chatellerault, France on August 13, 1894. He was a cavalry officer in the French army during World War I, and he served with the French Military Mission in Washington, D. C. during World War II. De Lustrac was a well-known cultural leader in the Norfolk, Virginia region. He married Helen Reid on November 24, 1925 in Norfolk, Virginia. The de Lustracs split their time living in Norfolk and Paris, France from the mid-1920s until their deaths. De Lustrac died on April 1, 1973 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
