Brief Description: Four 1936-1949 scrapbooks of Boy Scout Troop 5 from Norfolk, Virginia. The scrapbooks include photographs and hike records detailing the date of trips, place, officers in charge, weather, list of boys in attendance, summary of the event (salient facts), menu, and supplies purchased. Also, one 1942-1945 scrapbook of Rover Crew 5, a group started during World War II when many of the scouts in the troop were called to military service and wanted to continue scouting while in service. This last volume contains monthly bulletins with updates on the Crew members’ whereabouts and memories of past trips, written by Ralph E. Schaeffer, Rover Crew Leader, as well as photographs of Crew members at their various service locations.
