Biographical Note for Carpenter, Margaret Haley (1917-1985) : Margaret Haley Carpenter was born on June 30, 1917 in Louisa County, Virginia. She was a teacher for Norfolk schools from 1938-1958. Carpenter was also a writer, publishing Sara Teasdale: A Biography, A Gift For the Princess of Springtime, and several volumes of poetry. She was a former president for the Virginia Poetry Society. Carpenter died on May 12, 1985 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Bethpage Christian Church Cemetery in Mineral, Virginia.
