Brief Description: Two 1860-1864 scrapbooks created by Virginia Gordan of Norfolk, Virginia containing clippings detailing the events of the Civil War, particularly the Confederacy. Scrapbook 1 was originally a circa 1852 account book belonging to Virginia Gordan's father, John Dozier Gordan, for his banking business at 29 Market Square.

Biographical Note for Gordan, Virginia (1836-1913) : Virginia Gordan was born on February 5, 1836 in Norfolk, Virginia. She was the daughter of John Dozier Gordan and Susan Lydia Stratton. Gordan died on July 31, 1913 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
