Brief Description: One April-June 1918 Norfolk, Virginia scrapbook of clippings and correspondence relating to M. G. Nusbaum's idea to provide state-level facilities for sick and injured returning World War I soldiers and sailors. The scrapbook includes Nusbaum's initial plan written to the Norfolk section of the Association Advertising Clubs of the World. Most of the collection consists of letters from the Executive Offices of 20 different states, acknowledging correspondence Nusbaum sent to each Governor regarding state-level assistance for wounded servicemembers. There are also clippings about Nusbaum announcing his idea at meetings of the Norfolk Ad Club and one clipping crediting Maidie Goodman Nusbaum, M. G. Nusbaum's wife, with the idea.

Biographical Note for Nusbaum, M. G. (1872-1948) : Moses Goldsmith Nusbaum was born on November 7, 1872 in Norfolk, Virginia. He married Maidie Goodman, circa 1906. Nusbaum was an antiques merchant for about 10 years and ran a book and art store for about 30 years prior to that. He provided books for the collection of former President William Howard Taft. Nusbaum was a member of Ohef Sholom Temple. He died on December 22, 1948 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Forest Lawn Mausoleum in Norfolk, Virginia.
