Biographical Note
Mary Jane Irwin was a fifth generation Texan, born in Wichita Falls on April 25, 1932. Relocating to Norfolk, Virginia after marrying Terry H. Davis, Jr. on September 3, 1960, the couple remained in the area and raised their son: Terry H. Davis, III. Mary Jane Irwin Davis authored two books on the Ashmore family, her maternal family line, and was an active member in the local and state chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also involved in the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters. Mary Jane spent many years compiling genealogy research on her and her husband's family lines. She died on November 16, 2004 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Christ and Saint Luke's columbarium.
