Scope and Contents of the Materials

Two autograph albums belonging to Inez Jiggetts of Norfolk, Virginia. The first album is dated February 1944 and features autographs of Jiggetts's classmates at Booker T. Washington High School. The second album is dated circa 1960 and features handwritten best wishes and good luck from various individuals.

Biographical Note

Inez Jiggetts was born on April 27, 1926. She lived at 728 Windsor Avenue, 918 Wood Street, and 514 New Jersey Avenue in Norfolk, Virginia. She attended Booker T. Washington High School. She died on June 18, 2008 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Calvary Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.

Folder 1: Autograph album 1, 1944 February: Front inside cover reads, "To Inez from Ruth B. White." Many of the autographs include home addresses along with messages to Jiggetts. Several pages were written by members in the A cappella choir. About two-thirds of the album includes signatures, while the remaining pages are blank.
Folder 2: Autograph album 2, circa 1960: Includes a photograph of a young male with bongos. About one-quarter of the album includes signatures, while the remaining pages are blank.
