Historical Note: The Belvedere Garden Club in Norfolk, Virginia was organized on March 18, 1938. Its purpose was "To coordinate the interests of the gardeners in the neighborhood and, by mutual helpfulness, to beautify our individual gardens and the Belvedere section as a whole." Membership was limited to residents of Belvedere, Waterlawn, and Willowwood neighborhoods. The club motto was, "A flower garden with every home." The club flower was the rose, the club shrub was the azalea, and the club bird was the robin.
