Name: Lydia Roper Home for the Aged (1921-2019)
Historical Note: The Lydia Roper Home for the Aged opened on December 12, 1921 in the Riverview section of Norfolk, Virginia at 40th Street and Columbus Avenue. It was built by Captain John L. Roper to honor his late wife, with the intent that it be an assisted living home for elderly women. In 1965, the home began operating under the management of Pinnacle Living, which was then Virginia United Methodist Homes, Inc. The institution closed on January 31, 2019.
