Scope and Contents of the Materials

One family Bible originally owned by D. Tucker Brooke of Norfolk, Virginia. The Bible was published by the American Bible Society in 1870 and given to Brooke's father, Henry L. Brooke, in Charlestown, West Virginia in 1873.

Biographical Note

David Tucker Brooke was born on April 28, 1851 or 1852 in Richmond, Virginia. He married Lucy Borland Higgins on April 7, 1880 in Norfolk, Virginia. Brooke was a lawyer and member of the Virginia Constitutional Convention from 1901-1902. He died on March 28, 1915 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
