Circa 1930s sea stories and other materials belonging to John Edward Handran, a mariner from approximately the 1920s through the 1950s.

Biographical Note

John Edward Handran was born on May 28, 1904 in Rockport, Massachusetts. He was a master mariner and served in the Navy during World War II. Handran married Michelina Roselli on May 11, 1934 in Kings, New York. He married Sarah Ann James Strickland on April 14, 1967 in Norfolk, Virginia. Handran died on November 16, 1977 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
