Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection consists of shipping records (lists of supplies provided to specific vessels, by date and vessel name), financial ledgers, correspondence, commercial brochures and informational items, charter/broker and legal documents, company operating records, and nautical charts.
Biographical Note
William H. Swan and Sons, Inc. was a ships' stores supply (chandlery) company that operated in Norfolk, Virginia from 1920 to 1994. It was a branch of the main William H. Swan and Sons, Inc. based in New York City, New York.
