- Series 15: Berkley Appraisal, 1923
- The Berkley Appraisal was prepared by Dabney H. Maury, a Consulting Engineer from Chicago, for the City of Norfolk. The appraisal was requested by the City to use in its dispute with the City of Portsmouth over the purchase of the Berkley and South Norfolk Water and Electric Company. The appraisal deals with the valuation of the water works property and contains as exhibits copies of the more pertinent papers connected with the valuation. The appraisal contains an index to the exhibits. Exhibits consist of copies of: 1. Section 13 of the original ordinance passed by Berkley's Town Council pertaining to the water works; 2. notices to Portsmouth from Norfolk announcing the plan to purchase the water works; 3. correspondence from involved individuals to the presiding judge in the dispute; 4. comparison of valuations and many more categories of records created by this dispute.
