Scope and Contents of the Materials
Fifteen scrapbooks from 1926-1970 compiled by Hannah Agelasto of Norfolk, Virginia, and later, Alanton, Virginia Beach, Virginia. The scrapbooks primarily include clippings of local engagements, marriages, debutante parties, births, deaths, and other events in and around Norfolk, Virginia. There are also announcements and invitations with original envelopes addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Agelasto, Jr. for births, weddings, ceremonies, and other special events. The collection also includes name cards, church bulletins, correspondence, and photographs.
Biographical Note
Hannah Margery Rawls Agelasto was born on July 21, 1912 in Durham, North Carolina. She married Peter Alexander Agelasto on December 17, 1938 in Norfolk, Virginia. They moved to Alanton, London Bridge in Virginia Beach, Virginia in Fall 1949. Agelasto was an active member of Eastern Shore Episcopal Chapel, Washington Cathedral Association, Junior League of Norfolk, and Colonial Dames of America. She died on March 31, 1971 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
