Preferred Citation: Lena Woolford Confederate Scrapbook, MSS 0000-083, Sargeant Memorial Collection, Norfolk Public Library, Norfolk, Virginia.
Scope and Contents: One early 20th century scrapbook primarily containing newspaper clippings from The Sun (Baltimore) related to the Confederacy during and after the Civil War, including articles on Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and Jefferson Davis. The scrapbook was begun by Lena Woolford of Princess Anne, Maryland on approximately Saturday, August 17, 1907, and centers around the geographic locations of Virginia and Maryland. Woolford's scrapbook contains handwritten pages under the pasted clippings dating between 1868 and 1869 that suggest the book was at one time a ledger account book. Handwritten pages also include poems and songs commemorating Dixie, the South.
