Historical Note: Robert Brent was born in 1764 in Virginia. He was the first mayor of Washington, D. C., serving from 1802 to 1812. Additionally, he served as a justice of the peace from 1801 to 1817, a judge of the Orphan's Court from 1806 to 1814, and Paymaster General of the United States Army from 1808 to 1819. He died on September 7, 1819 in Washington, D. C.
