Scope and Contents of the Materials

A typescript of newspaper articles from the Norfolk Gazette and Publick Ledger, published from June 9-13, 1808. Barron made an appeal to the publisher of the paper, John Cowper, to publish his defense before the court martial regarding the 1807 Chesapeake-Leopard Affair, which took place off the coast of Norfolk, Virginia.

Biographical Note

The Norfolk gazette and publick ledger was published from July 17, 1804 to September 17, 1816. It was published by John Cowper and George L. Gray.
