One 1839 letter regarding the sender's inquiry to hear about the case of Captain Thomas Hubert.

Biographical Note

Charles Hatcher was born around 1787 in Caswell County, North Carolina. He married twice; once in 1810 or 1811, and the second time on December 4, 1821 to Anna Elizabeth Trabue in Chesterfield, Virginia. Hatcher moved to Norfolk, Virginia around 1823. He was a businessman and merchant involved in domestic slave trade; he traveled back and forth frequently between Norfolk, Virginia and New Orleans, Louisiana. Hatcher died from yellow fever in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 21, 1842.
