Scope and Contents of the Materials

One 1901 autograph album containing signatures of 112 members of the Virginia Constitutional Convention, along with the geographic places each member represented. The first page of autographs list the officers of the 1901 Virginia Constitutional Convention: President John Goode, Secretary Joseph Button, and Vice President William A. Anderson.

Biographical Note

Alanson Tilman "Lance" Lincoln was born on October 23, 1858 in Smyth County, Virginia. He was a manufacturer of wagons and plows in Marion, Smyth County, Virginia. Lincoln served as a Republican member of the Virginia Senate from 1906-1912 and Virginia House of Delegates from 1914-1916. He was also a member of the Virginia Constitutional Convention in 1901. Lincoln married Lucretia Sexton around 1890. He died on January 28, 1925 in Abingdon, Virginia and was buried at Round Hill Cemetery in Smyth County, Virginia.
