Historical Note: The Holland family of the now extinct Suffolk and Nansemond counties trace their lineage back to Lancashire, England in the 10th century. Members of the Holland family came to Virginia in the early 17th century and lived in Jamestown before eventually settling in Suffolk and Nansemond counties.
