Scope and Contents of the Materials

Six 1930s-1960s scrapbooks featuring social events including engagements, weddings, parties, graduation commencements, debutant debuts, funerals, and other activities in and around Norfolk, Virginia. Most of the materials date between 1951 and 1955.

Biographical Note

Frances Calvert Stansbury was born on October 25, 1908 in Virginia. She worked for the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Virginia as an editor for the Society section of the paper. Stansbury died on May 6, 1972 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
