Scope and Contents of the Materials
One circa 1890s-1900s scrapbook of clippings relating to the Tucker family in Norfolk, Virginia. Prominent individuals featured in the scrapbook include Reverend Beverly Dandridge Tucker and Henry St. George Tucker. Major topics include missionary work in China and Japan, Saint Paul's Church, and annual meetings of the Pickett-Buchanan Camp of Confederate Veterans.
Biographical Note
Lawrence Fontaine Tucker was born on October 2, 1889 in Norfolk, Virginia. He served in the United States Army during World War I. Tucker married Jane Minerva Ruffin on December 19, 1929 in Norfolk, Virginia. He was head of the Engineering Department at Norfolk Building Supplies Corporation in Norfolk, Virginia. Tucker died on January 2, 1963 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
