Historical Note: Margery Eldredge Howell was born on May 18, 1893 in Brooklyn, New York. She married Asher Atkinson Howell on October 7, 1918 in Norfolk, Virginia. Howell was a member of the Writers' Club of Norfolk, Poetry Society of Virginia, and Norfolk Society of Arts. She died on April 18, 1946 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at West End Cemetery in Wytheville, Virginia. Her book of poems From Dark to Dawn was published posthumously in 1947.
