She attended Leache-Wood Seminary in Norfolk, Virginia and worked for the law firm Willcox, Cooke and Willcox for 36 years. She was a member of Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church and a charter member of the Business and Professional Women's Club in Norfolk, Virginia. She died on June 8, 1979 in Norfolk, Virginia and was buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
