Historical Note: Lucile Perryman Bybee Portlock was born on May 1, 1917 in Norfolk, Virginia. She graduated from the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary in 1939. She married William Seth Portlock, Jr. on April 5, 1941 in Norfolk, Virginia. Portlock was Librarian at Granby High School from 1939-1941, Assistant Librarian at Norview Jr. High School from 1956-1957 and Assistant Librarian at Norview Senior High School from 1958-1966. She then served as Librarian of the Sargeant Memorial Room from 1966 until her retirement in 1985. Portlock died on October 9, 2009 in Richmond, Virginia.
